Six images by Dakota Gearhart 22 x 17 inches each, displayed in Weird Shift Storefront in 2014. The artist's statement is as follows:
I have been working recently with scraps of discarded content, both digital and physical. Here these remnants have been processed in various ways and then combined with warped scans of printer alignment test sheets. The result is a playful, sugary, and psychedelically driven way to re-embody image data. On a more personal level, the work satisfies a yearning for meaning absent in much of the 2-D imagery I find myself consuming. By promoting this type of throw-away imagery to the status of the fantastical, I am able to create a bridge between my deep reservations about the affectations of our image-based culture, and my own desire to connect with the print.
Physical Archive contains hanging instructions sent by the artist. Digital archive contains photos of the art when it was on display.
